It’s been a busy couple of weeks, and, if you’re like me, you’re looking forward to some downtime over the next two weeks. Your time will likely be made up of good food, laughs with friends and family, and (hopefully) some time cuddled up in front of the fireplace with a good book. Or, perhaps, like me, you’ll be sitting with a soft, warm blanket in your favourite chair hot beverage in an inspirational mug in hand with a comfortable pair of headphones listening to an audiobook on your phone. However you plan to spend your reading time this holiday season, I’ve put together a list of my top books for your holiday reading list.
The last book I read
My list includes 10 books altogether. Five are titles I have read and you should too. The remaining five are on my holiday reading list. Land I thought that, maybe, we could read them together. All of them can be found on Scribd, the audiobook app I use. But, let’s start with a couple of the ones I’ve read and am recommending that you should read too:
I just finished this book and I can’t say enough good things about it! Read by the author, not overly wordy and engaging would be the first layer of praise I would heap upon it. But I’m recommending it for a different reason.
At the beginning of this year, I chose a guiding word that has taken me on quite to personal development journey. This book was the perfect next step for me to launch into the second phase of my journey.
Aware that blocks are holding me back, this book works through what those blocks could be, gave me a number of ah-ha moments to reflect and journal about and gave me the tools to continue moving forward. From blocks around money mindset to fears surrounding failure and success to imposter syndrome, this book shared the author’s truths and valuable insights into them all.
One that you have to read this year
Shonda Rhimes’ book, The Year of Yes, was a huge game-changer on my journey in 2017. Feeling overwhelmed? Know you took on too much? This book is for you. Shonda talks about her own journey and the valuable lesson that you have to say no often to say yes more. When we get clear on what matters and empower ourselves to set boundaries that have us saying no to the things that pop up and don’t make the cut, we make room for all of the magic we desire.
Here are three that I recommend for your professional development
These three books are some of the ones I recommend most to my clients. One of them will give you ideas about how to promote yourself with clarity and excitement. Another will help you get clear on your business model so you can begin making it clear to everyone else. The last one talks you through creating a customer service system that acts as its own revenue stream in no time.
To see the remaining five books that are on my holiday reading list, head on over to Scribd. I’ve created the list especially for you and would love to hear what you think as you read. We have teamed up with Scribd to get you two months of reading free when you use our affiliate link. Scribd is a great option for me because I don’t have to purchase credits or track anything. Get unlimited titles for $8.99 USD/month. The ease of use and quality of service are big pros for me.
And don’t forget to reach out to me on social media with your thoughts and ah-ha moments!!
